Marcus lived and worked in Turkey until 1996, before moving to Australia. He founded Fairy Chimneys Travel in 2001 to share his extensive travel expertise and passion of all things Turkish with Australian travellers. A qualified tour guide licensed through the Ministry of Tourism in Turkey, Marcus worked extensively in the Turkey travel industry, as a professional guide and managing incoming tours. He now manages both the retail and wholesale operations of Fairy Chimneys Travel.

Marcus’ other half and mother of their two beautiful children, Betul also hails from Turkey. Betul has years of experience in retail and sales. With expertise in managing businesses in both the tourism and hospitality industry in Turkey, she is an invaluable addition to Fairy Chimneys Travel. Betul met Marcus when she visited Australia as a tourist in 2002 and began an exceptional partnership, encompassing her love of Turkey and travel.

Dr John Basarin is Australia’s pre-eminent Gallipoli expert. For six years he has led evocative ANZAC Day tours to Turkey’s long silent battlefields. A popular speaker, Dr John ’s extensive contributions to WWI history and Turkish-Australian culture have been acknowledged by 2010 ANZAC Peace Prize, 2005 Victorian Premier's Award for Excellence in Multicultural Affairs and participation in the AE2 Australian submarine project.

Originally from Iran, Anoush spent 8 years in Istanbul, working in travel operations. He has extensive knowledge and experience in Gallipoli and Anzac Day operations as well as ‘tailor made’ itineraries for independent travellers. With an eye for detail, Anoush is the expert when it comes to arranging everything from a tricky flight changeover to a two day gullet cruise. He moved to Melbourne in 2009, where he now enjoys his new role at Fairy Chimneys Travel.

Gulsah has travel in her blood. Her career has already spanned some of Turkey’s best resorts and the national airline. Born in Turkey, Gulsah knows returning to see family and friends is important to Turkish Australians. She is dedicated to helping those clients secure the very best flight deals.
