Treasures of the East with Black Sea

Departure for Kahta,enroute visit the 13th century Seljukian caravansarai Karatayhan. After lunch drive to Kahramanmaras. Arrive in Kahta and check into the hotel relaxing for a while. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.

A 3 o'clock morning departure to climb up the mountain to watch the sunrise with the colossal statues of the kings and Gods on Mount Nemrut. Drive back to Kahta through Arsemia, Roman bridge of Cendere and tumulus blackbird. Arrive at Kahta, have breakfast and relax. Next continue to Urfa to visit Harran and the Balikli Gol—pools with holy carp and trout.

Drive to Diyarbakir formerly called Amid and visit some of the longest city Walls of the World. They are also famous for being the second largest walls in the world after the Great Wall of China. Afternoon drive to Mardin to check in our hotel.

Drive to Suryani Deyr-ul Zaferan Monastery in the morning. Return to the city for a walking tour including Kadim K?rklar Monastery and the famous anthological and Ethnographical museum of the city. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Visit Hasankeyf which stands as living evidence to the multifaceted cultural foundations of the Arabs, Seljuks, Mongolians and Ottomans. Sadly, most of it will be lost under the flows of rivers after the completion of the GAP project for building dams in the region. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Drive to Van, visit the Akdamar Church en route. Take a small boat ride to Akdamar Island on Lake Van. This church has one of the most complete scene collections of the Old Testament carved on the façade of the church. Late afternoon tour of Van climb up to the Urartian Fortress of Van. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Continue onto Dogubeyazit to observe the beauty of the Mt. Ararat from a distance. Then we will continue to Ishak Pasa Palace which is one of the oldest and most complete palace complexes in the world dating back to 11 hundred AD. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Proceed further East to the Armenian Border to see the famous Ancient Armenian city of Ani. The city was established as an Armenian capital and continued as a prosperous trading city under the Byzantines and Seljuks. Afternoon drive to Erzurum and check in the hotel.

After visiting the Seljukian Cravansaray and the tumbs in Erzurum we will take a scenic drive to Trabzon via the North Eastern mountain range. Arrive at the hotel and overnight Trabzon.

Begin our trip with visiting the 4thcentury Sumela Monastery, explore the highlights of Trabzon city; study the extraordinary collection of Byzantine frescoes in the 13th century church of Ayasofya, visit Ataturk's Mansion on Soguksu hill facing Black Sea, Trabzon Castle.

A morning flight to Istanbul and end of services.
