AE2, the 'Silent Anzac' - Epic Gallipoli Cruise

Istanbul to Lemnos via AE2 site

Day 3
Monday 20 April, 2015
breakfast, lunch & dinner

Departing remarkable Istanbul, your luxury cruise liner enters the Sea of Marmara en route to Gallipoli. Noted historians will offer fascinating insights as you cruise toward the final resting place of Australia's first submarine. Lay a floating wreath where the AE2 sank and lay undiscovered for over 80 years. The same morning the ANZACs landed, AE2 became the first allied vessel to penetrate the Dardanelles. Five days later this 'Silent Anzac' was holed by Turkish fire and scuttled by Captain Stoker. She sank 73 metres, and the crew of Turkish torpedo boat Sultanhisar saved all souls aboard.

Our cruise continues through the Dardanelles to the Greek island of Lemnos. Used throughout the campaign as a supply and staging post, Lemnos is where ANZAC troops began their Gallipoli voyage.

Our ship remains at the Lemnos port of Moudros until midnight.
